Questions which require letter/Roman numeral answers
·For questions where the answers are letters or Roman numerals, you should write only the number of answers required. For example, if the answer is a single letter or numeral, you should write only one answer. If you have written more letters or numerals than are required, the answer must be marked wrong.
Questions which require answers in the form of words or numbers
·Answers maybe written in upper or lower case.
·Words in brackets are OPTIONAL-they are correct, but not necessary。
·Alternative answers are separated by a slash(/)。
·If you are asked to write an answer using a certain number of words and/or (a) number(s)， you will be penalized if you exceed this. For example, if a question specifies an answer using NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS and the correct answer is “black leather coat”， the answer of “coat of black leather” is incorrect。
·In questions where you are expected to complete a gap, you should transfer only the necessary missing word(s) onto the answer sheet. For example, to complete “in the …”， and the correct answer is “morning”， the answer “in the morning” would be incorrect.
·All answers require correct spelling (including words in brackets)。
· Both US and UK spellings are acceptable and are included in the Answer key.
·All standard alternatives for numbers, dates and currencies are acceptable.
比如：Q38—40 Choose THREE Correct Letters如果答案為B D E那麽答案可以寫成：D E B, E B D等情況均可。如果其中一個是錯誤的，那麽只扣除一道題目的分數。考生容易犯的低級錯誤是把2-3個題目的答案全部放在一個題號後面，如果把B D E三個字母全部放在38題後面，就會大錯特錯，也不符合題目要求。
如果是只有一個題號的多選題，在答題紙上寫答案的時候，只要一個字母錯就會算錯，因為一個題目不會有半分；比如 Q 40 Choose TWO Letters.如果答案為ＣＤ，而考生判斷為ＣＥ那第４０題沒有分數。
在雅思聽力考試中，凡是要求寫答案的題目要求中都會出現“no more than three words”，“no more than 2 words”或“only one word or number”的字樣。考生在寫答案的時候要特別註意這些要求。很多人可能最熟悉的是“no more than three words”，容易忽略“no more than 2 words”甚至“no more than one word” 在此，建議考生仔細看清楚題目要求中的字數限制。
關於字數要求的滿足，考官有如下建議：
1) 省略小品詞---如果答案總字數超過題目要求的時候，我們可以省略答案中的一些連詞、冠詞和介詞。比如：(a) double bedroom, (in the) entrance hall等等。
2) 加連字符---我們還可以在一些相關的單詞之間加上連字符，這算作一個單詞。比如：a double bedroom可以寫成a double-bedroom, near the railway station可以寫成near the railway-station。
